Obituary For Elizabeth Jane "Bettie" Gillot

Gillot, Elizabeth Jane "Bettie"

Of Brentwood, on Saturday, October 24, 2020 our beautiful, beloved mother Elizabeth Jane “Bettie” Gillot peacefully passed away. She was 91 years young. The love of her life Dominic, her beautiful daughter, Jane, her mother Lottie, sister Caroline Wendall and brother Patrick Cannon preceded her in death. Bettie is survived by her daughters, Bonnie (Paul) Killian, Tina (Frank) Gill, Donna Gillot, Andrea (the late Bruce) Haney, Beverly Gillot, and Maria (Scott) Werner and her sons, Dominic, Thomas (Nancy) and James (Melanie). She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and soon to be 25 great-grandchildren, plus numerous cousins, especially Millie Jacovino, nieces and nephews. Bettie enjoyed her lunch bunch and card club for over 40 years. She was president of her graduating class at Taylor Alderdice and a lifetime member of St. Sylvester Church. As a mother of 10 and widowed at age 39, she became a working mom and was awarded the “Spirit of the South Campus” at CCAC where she worked for many years. Bettie was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling with her family and friends. She loved to cook and entertain and with so many children, there was always someone at her home. Everyone was always welcomed. Bettie’s greatest joy was her family and her legacy of kindness and love of family will live on in every family member. Due to current health concerns, Bettie's funeral services will be held privately. Arrangements were handled by the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227. If desired, her family suggests contributions to East End Cooperative Ministry (EECM), 6140 Station St., Pittsburgh, 15206 or Light of Life Rescue Missions, 913 Western Ave., Pittsburgh, 15233.
