Obituary For Elizabeth L. (Fritsch) Schmitt

Age 82, a life-long resident of Brentwood, passed peacefully on Monday, January 4, 2021 from complications of COVID-19. Beloved wife of 60 years to Norman Schmitt; loving mother of Norman (Dana) Schmitt Jr., John (Denise) Schmitt, Paul (Deborah) Schmitt, Thomas Schmitt and Karen (Greg) Kosiarek; older sister to Kathryn (the late Leonard) Mokwa, Eileen (Paul) Hahn and Edward (the late Jan) Fritsch; grandmother to Megan (Luke) Morgan, Christopher (Jenny) Schmitt, Thomas Schmitt, Jr., Hanna and Olivia Schmitt, Kara, Michael and Amy Schmitt and Daniel Kosiarek; great grandmother to Eloise and Benson Morgan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louise and Elmer Fritsch. Betty was a devoted member of the St. Sylvester’s Parish in Brentwood and a long-time member of the Parish’s Women’s Guild. She will be remembered for her simple smile, a lifetime of selflessness and the loving manner in which she cared for everyone around her, including her beloved husband Norm, their children and grandchildren, her parents and Norm’s parents. Due to the current capacity restrictions, visitation and services will be held privately. Arrangements handled by the John F. Norm(Sr), Norm(Jr), John, Paul, Tom and Karen – and all your families, What I recall most about Betty was her taking care of everyone, how her main interests were in your lives. Betty was loved by all of you, and so much a deep part of all your lives. Her passing will leave a large void, and all of you can help to fill that void for one another. Her example to you shows the way and your support of one another, just by a phone call, email or text to say hi, would be a testament to her commitment to her family. I am so sorry I could not be there, but I look forward to the time again when we can be in person. Love, Uncle Ned
