Obituary For Elmer C. Freund

Age 92, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023, of Overbrook.

Beloved husband of the late Rosemary; father of Renee (Tom) Blum, Nadine, Brigitte (Pat) Joyce, John (Val), Todd (Lauri), Nicole (Paul) Cord and the late Jeffrey (the late Jacqueline) and Lance; grandfather of 16; great-grandfather of 10 and great great-grandfather of 2; brother of Joan (the late Al) Garner and the late Norman (Mary), Robert (Jean) and William. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Elmer was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 from 2-8 p.m. where a blessing service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to a charity of your choice.

    Dear Freund family. I know Rosie and Elmer sometimes considered Dave part of the Freund family. Dave told me of one night when Elmer came after work for supper and saw a crowd of children sitting around the dinner table and he pointed to Dave and said "You are not mine but you can stay and eat." There was always room at their table. We always thought of Elmer as one of the kindest, sweetest, and hardest-working man we've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Rest in peace, Elmer.     Can't think of where 2 begin. So many wonderful times with Elmer,Bud & Jimmy at the Fairhaven Club. I made him cry laughing and he always kept me safe. Such a true man. My family was blessed to have been a part of this wonderful family ❤️❤️❤️
