Obituary For Else Karamarkovich

Else (Wolf) Karamarkovich peacefully fell asleep in the Lord this week. Born in Lippstadt Germany. She was married to the late Dushan (Duke) Karamarkovich in 1948 and immigrated together to America in 1949. Her life centered around the foundation of her Orthodox Christian faith and the love of God. She had a heart of gold and was a gift to all that knew her. After losing her beloved Dushan, she continued to give of herself, even when there was nothing really left to give, she always found a way. Else was the last surviving member of her family and leaves behind her devoted Kumovi and many loyal beloved friends who were her “guardian angels” up until her passing. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15227 on Saturday, December 3, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to noon at which time a funeral service will be held. Interment will be held privately. Else’s final wishes were that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to the following charities that were dear to her: Tunnel to Towers-t2t.org, Wounded Warrior- woundedwarriorproject.org, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital-stjude.org/givehope. May God Bless her soul and grant her eternal peace as she now rests with her beloved “Dushko” and the rest of her family in the House of our Lord. Memory Eternal +Else, you will be missed by all who knew and loved you.

I'm so saddened to learn of Else's passing late last year. I was her Optician for years. I would always look forward to her visits when she'd be downtown. I took her to lunch once at a nice place in market square. It was so wonderful listening to her stories about Germany and her husband. The time I spent with Else will always be a treasure! I was honored to know her. Rest easy sweet Else

My Dear Else, you were one of a kind. We sure had our moments, (that was the German in us) but ALWAYS ended up hugging each other and saying, "I love you." I will miss you terribly. Room 130B will always be your room. I know you were suffering, and you are at peace now with your loving husband. I will miss you Else, always know that. Carla Withem RN

Such a sad day to learn of Else's passing. I was raised in Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Cathedral and Else was a faithful and loving steward of this parish. Until her move to Manor Care, she never missed a Sunday liturgy, a weekday holiday liturgy, or any liturgy during Great Lent. I might mention, she didn't drive, but this didn't stop her. Else's greatest loves were her beloved late husband, Dushan and her Orthodox faith. I will always remember Else for her amazing positive attitude and for her love of God. May her memory be eternal and a blessing. In sympathy, Paula Winowich
