O'Brien, Elsie Schultz

Age 94, on Thursday, January 9, 2014 of Pleasant Gap, PA, formerly of Clairton, PA and Youngstown, OH.

Beloved wife of the late James E. O'Brien; loving mother of Judith (John) Watson of State College and the late Joyce (survived by Mitchel) Knisley of Chandler, AZ; grandmother of Jeffrey (Johanna) Watson, Brian (Emily Bofetta) Knisley, Michele Knisley (Brandon) Vail and Jason Watson; sister of the late Henry, Gustave, Albert, Adolph and William Schultz and Helen Fisher. Elsie graduated from Clairton High School in 1938 and California University of Pennsylvania in 1942. She was a homemaker and worked as a geography teacher. Most of her life she lived near Pittsburgh, PA and spent several years of her life in Youngstown, OH. After retirement, she and Jim made winter trips to Arizona to be near her daughters and grandchildren. In 2002 she moved to Pleasant Gap, PA to be near her daughter. Elsie loved her family and grandchildren. She was a devoted mother. Her desire was for her children and grandchildren to experience life to the fullest and for each to use their gifts to better the world. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Rd., Brentwood 15227, on Friday from 7-9 p.m., where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Family suggests contributions to Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries, The Oaks, 200 Rachel Drive, Pleasant Gap, PA 16823.
