Obituary For Etta Myrtle Lee (Fosbaugh)

Age 92, of Brentwood, passed peacefully in her home with her loved ones on Sunday, July 28, 2024.

Etta was born on September 15, 1931, the daughter of the late Lawrence Herbert and Blanche Fosbaugh. She was married to the late Dale Lee for 37 years. Beloved mother to her only child Sandra Lee Huber (Michael) and beloved grandmother to Michael and Haley. She was predeceased by her brothers Lawrence and Raymond (Lois M.) Fosbaugh. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Always a farm girl at heart, Etta was born on the farm and graduated from Peters Township High School. She would then start her nurses training at Southside Hospital where she found her love for OR nursing. She had a wonderful career of 35 years which included countless memories and lifelong friendships that she deeply treasured and will live on in our hearts forever. Outside of nursing, she always changed lives and inspired others. She was the neighborhood nurse and loved every second of it. She inspired her granddaughter to pursue her own career as a registered nurse. “She brought smiles everywhere she went and was always the most positive, uplifting and caring person. I always knew that if I could be half the nurse she was, I would be successful”.

The light of her life were her grandkids, Michael and Haley. Michael attributes his athleticism to grandma teaching us all sports at a young age and not always letting us win. He specifically enjoyed playing basketball and knee hockey with her. She always had the kids running around outside and welcomed/entertained all the kids in the neighborhood.

Etta enjoyed golfing. She cherished her special group of lifelong friends. She loved Steelers trips with her late husband and going on family vacations to Myrtle Beach. We are forever grateful as she was the best mom, mother in law, grandma, and friend you could ever imagine, instilling her thoughtful and kind traits that will last a lifetime. She will be forever missed.

A graveside service will be held at Jefferson Memorial Park on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. Everyone please meet at the cemetery. Arrangements handled by the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227.

Grief doesn't ever really go away. It lingers and resurfaces when you least expect it. But those moments do get easier to handle. More importantly, the sadness surrounding the loss of a dear friend is replaced with just wonderful memories that bring small smiles when we are reminded of those, we held most dear. You are my sunshine dear Etta.
