Obituary For Ferdinand A. Koenig

Age 89, peacefully on Friday, December 17, 2021, of Baldwin Boro.

Loving husband of 69 years to Marie T. (Mutschler); beloved father of Don (Alicia Gamble), John (Cindy), Bill (Kathleen), Rick (Linn), Mick, Scott and the late Bob (survived by Sally) Koenig; proud grandfather of 15; great-grandfather of 11; brother of Paul (Linda), Dorothy, Joan Smerecky; brother-in-law of Bill (the late Betty Jean) Mutschler.Will also be missed by Nancy Koenig, Suzy (Michael) Miles, Mary Beth Koenig, cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbors, friends and his Yellow Lab Buck. Ferd served his country in the US Army and retired from the Port Authority as a bus driver and a T operator, but he was at his happiest being the father of his seven sons. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Sunday, December 19, 2021 from 3-8 p.m. where a funeral prayer will be held on Monday morning at 9:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Germaine Church at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to www.bestbuddies.org

    Our favorite memories of Ferd are of sitting with him on the front porch talking and laughing with Buck sitting at his feet! We will miss our "Sugar Bear"!!!! Linda & Denny (neighbors)
