Age 89, of Baldwin Borough, on Monday, May 2, 2022, passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior. Preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 64 years, Robert J. Dryer, Sr., survived by two sons, Robert J. (Shelly) Dryer, Jr. of Pinnacle, NC and David J. (Linda) Dryer, grandmother of Rebecca, John (Michelle) and Bradley (Molly) Dryer, great-grandmother of Ella Violet and John Dryer, Jr.; two brothers, William and Edwin Mitchell of New Jersey; sister-in-law Elva Mackenzie and several adored nieces and nephews. Florence graduated from National College for Christian Workers in Kansas City, Missouri where she began a 16-month correspondence with her cousin's friend, Bob, who was serving in the Army during the Korean War. They met for the first time at Florence's graduation and were eventually married and had two sons. Florence's interests included travel, genealogy research, collecting various items (dolls, British monarchy, books, etc.) and spending time with her family, friends and many pets. Friends received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where funeral services will be held in the Chapel on Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Spencer United Methodist Church, 117 Spencer Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15227. 05/18/2022 To the Dryer Family. I am so sorry to learn of the death of your Mom. "Lazarus," was my name for Flo. I worked at South western and when Flo first arrived, she wouldn't eat or drink. All she ate was chocolate Magic Cups. Then one day all if a sudden she started to eat and drink and walk!!! Thus, "Lazarus," became her new name. I just spoke with her by phone on Saturday May 7 the day before Mother's Day. I told her I would be by soon to visit. I got the call today from a friend. I know she is happy to be reunited with her Bob. You, her family, are all in my prayers.
