Chief Nevling was such a wonderful friend to the student and staff at McClelland Elementary School. He always took special care to ensure that everything was "safe" at the school. He often drove by in his squad car and would hesitate outside the office window until the office staff would wave, to let him know everything was OK. He would often stop in just to walk down the halls, so that the children knew that they were on a safe environment, stopping in the office to share a cup of coffee. He was always thinking about the children in school. He looked forward to the annual Halloween Parade at the school, he lead the parade. The Chief always went that extra mile for the school. He was such a caring man. He will be missed by many. Always, 'Madam Principal"

I've known Floyd since May of 1965, the day he stopped to say hello to the six new county officers who were in training. From that first encounter he made us feel welcome. I worked many years under Floyd's supervision. Through all the years he proved to be one of the finest supervisors you could ask for but more so, it was his friendship I valued the most. I would like Pam, Patrick and Jan to know what a wonderful person he was to so many and what an impact he made. He will be missed. It was an honor to know him for all the years. Sincerely, Ed Duffy Retired Allegheny County Police Detective

Floyd was such a staple in the Pleasant Hills area. Always involved in all aspects of the area from Church to community outreach. Always tanhigh level of character and integrity, especially in the PH police department. Qualities truly lacking today. He will be missed but his service lives on in our memories.
