Obituary For Frank C. Bernardini

Age 85, on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, of Mt. Oliver, formerly of Bon Air.

Loving father of Michael A. (Katie Traska) and Matthew B. (Jamie Lattner) Bernardini; grandfather of Michael Rossa, Nicholas Bernardini and Michael Bernardini, Jr.; great grandfather of two; brother of Norma (the late George) Bercini and the late Esther (Tony) Mosesso. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

Frank served as Mayor of Mt. Oliver and President of the Mt. Oliver Council. He was a 20-year career Army veteran, serving as a Recruiter/Supervisor and Senior Logistics Advisor. He received many awards during his lifetime including the Federal Executive Board Pittsburgh Bronze Award, Meritorious Service Medal, 1985 Army Commendation Medal 2nd Oak leaf, 1976 and 1985 Good Conduct Medal, 7th Award 1985, Gold recruiter Badge 1980, National Defense Service Medal. Numerous awards and letters of recognition, both while on active duty and as a federal employee.

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Sunday, January 12, 2025 from 2:00-6:00p.m. and Monday, January 13, 2025 from 2:00-4:00p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held Monday evening. Interment will be held in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies on Tuesday at 1:00pm with military honors. Please meet at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:30am to join the procession.

    Frank was a dear long time Friend from Bon Air. We had many good times and a dear friend of our family. We all enjoyed all his good stories. and jokes. The Italian Club picnics. If you needed anything just ask Frank and he would be there and help my father He will be missed.by me and my family. I love you my forever friend Frank. Jo Ann Ricci

    I remember Frank from many years ago. My mother in law lived on Stamm Ave. Frank is someone you will never forget. He loved his children and grandchildren so much. He was always on the go! He was a good friend to Geno. He loved Frank so much. Our hearts go out to his family and friends.
