Obituary For Gary Lee James Welsh, Sr.

Age 71, passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021, of South Side Slopes. Beloved husband of 48 1/2 years to Kathleen I. (Graczyk) Welsh; loving father of Gary Lee James (Tammy) Welsh, Jr., Rae Lynn (Michael) McKown and Dane A. (Dana) Welsh; devoted Pap of Brianna, Adena, Gary, III, Taylor, Riley, Kassidy, Braiden, Blaine, Brodie, Dale, Maddison, Mariah, Aliyah and Dane, Jr.; proud great-grandpap of Catalaya; son of the late Michael and Ann Speranza; brother of William (Priscilla) Welsh, Kathleen (Jeffrey) Hurst, JoAnn (Craig) Tornow and the late Judy Welsh. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Gary served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, coached Southside baseball for many years and was a great outdoorsman. His family Uber rides will be greatly missed. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, on Monday, August 9 from 1-3 and 5-8 p.m. where a Blessing service will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.

    My dear cousin Kathy so saddened to hear about Gary he was one of the best many great memories of him when I think of Gary I also think of my dad whenever they were together Gary would be there with a beer in hand saying here you go Uncle Joe those two were always together at family gatherings he respected my dad identified him as uncle as my dad truly considered him a nephew I'm sure dad greeted him at the gates of heaven with a cold brew please know we're thinking of you and praying would've loved to be there with a big hug so instead take the memorial throw blanket wrap it around you and know that you're so loved Gary will be in your heart forever as well as those who had the pleasure of knowing him sending love to the Welsh family love your cousin Darlene
