February 17, 1931 - December 19, 2016

Girty, George A., Jr. On Sunday, December 18, 2016, of Whitehall.

Devoted husband of the late Catherine Wrenshall Girty; father of George (Christine) Girty of Bethel Park, John (Mary Ann) Girty of Walnut Creek, CA and Andrew Girty of Mt. Lebanon; grandfather of Grant Girty, Aidan Sexton, Dana Girty and Rachel (Matt) Erickson. George graduated from Kiski Prep, attended Carnegie Tech, and received his degree from W&J. George was a life long resident of Whitehall Borough. A devoted father and husband, he and his wife Catherine celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary before her passing in 2004. George was an avid golfer, a boating enthusiast (Boston Whaler) and a die hard Pitt fan. Perhaps his greatest accomplishment was raising three boys to become men. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday in the sanctuary of the Baldwin Community United Methodist Church at 10 AM. Everyone please meet at church.
