Obituary For George Paul Schubert

Age 59, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, November 1, 2024, of Brentwood.

Beloved son of the late George and Mary Schubert; cherished and loving brother of Andrew (Sandy)Schubert, Richard (Shannon) Schubert and Beverly Royale and family; fun-loving uncle to Craig, Chris (Sophia), Elizabeth, Emily and Evan Schubert. Will be dearly missed by his Aunt Rita, The Gilg and Capozzoli families, numerous cousins and friends.

George was a Special Olympics athlete for many years with bowling being his favorite activity. He attended St. Anthony and Mon Valley Secondary School and attended day programs through Achieva and Mercy through the years. George looked for any reason to celebrate. He was happiest on a holiday or celebrating someone's birthday. In his spare time, George enjoyed coloring, arts and crafts, shopping, and especially trips to the Baldwin Library and Kennywood Park with his brother Rich. George never passed up an opportunity to do the Chicken Dance. George loved attending his nieces and nephews sporting events and activities, he would always cheer for them. When it was time to relax, you could catch George watching his favorite TV shows, The Love Boat, The Golden Girls, and most recently, The Price is Right with Bob Barker. George had the ability to light up any room he walked into with his beautiful smile and personality. George will be dearly missed by each and every heart he touched.

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Sunday, November 3, 2024 from 12-6 p.m. A funeral service will be in the John F. Slater Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, November 4, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to Baldwin Boro Public Library, 5230 Wolfe Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15236.

I was fortunate to meet Richard and George over 30 years ago thru Special Olympics. Coaching George over the years brought many joyous moments. My favorite was when he decided that I was an "Old Hag". Richard, Shannon and family, our lives are richer for having had George as a beloved friend. Richard, your family's devotion to George is an inspiration to all. Elizabeth's obit was spot on! God's blessing to all of you at this time of sorrow. With our love, Terri and Chris

I coached Georgie in Special Olympics. Great guy, great family. A poem for the funeral services of a deceased handicapped person. I Am Finally Free I was born with a disability, it really does not matter the kind. God gave me special people, to help me with my body and mind. From my birth till my death, they took great care of me. And now that I am gone, Believe that I am still me. No more disability, I can walk and think so clear. I will tell our dear Lord Jesus who those were that held me dear. I will pray for all of you, as you all pray for me. So please don't grieve too much, for at last, I am finally free. by Bill Mitchell Email: xb25mitch@comcast.net

My memories of George are at the baseball field when Rich would bring him to watch Evan and his buddies play ball. He always made me smile! My sympathies to the Schubert's and all family members. George is definitely in a better place. ❤️

George was such a sweetheart. He gave the best hugs. I used to stay with him and Mrs. Schubert. He was so excited to get his dinner. He loved to eat.. And he loved his Mom; now two Angels in Heaven.
