Obituary For Glenda Schaum

Glenda Schaum, age 91, peacefully passed on Sunday, May 17, 2026, of Brookline.

Loving mother of Lisa Rene Schaum, Melissa Ann Schaum and Dori Lynn Capretti; beloved grandma of Neva Rose Capretti; cherished sister of the late Norma Faye "Bootsie" Snow (Sinor) and Ed Wayne (Barbara Black) Sinor. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

With heavy hearts, we celebrate the beautiful life of Glenda - a devoted mother, loving grandmother, cherished friend, and a woman whose life was filled with music, laughter, and love. Glenda found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments: spending time with her three daughters, walking along the beach collecting seashells, dancing the shag with her younger brother, Ed, in North Myrtle Beach, and harmonizing songs beside her older sister, Bootsie, as she played the piano by ear.

Music was the soundtrack of Glenda’s life. Whether hosting joyful sing-a-longs wherever a piano could be found, decorating cookies with the children she cared for, preparing her famous homemade Southern Cornbread Stuffing, or sharing a treasured “cup of friendship” with her dear friend Dorothy, she made every gathering feel warm, welcoming, and unforgettable.

Glenda especially treasured her role as “Nanny” to the children she lovingly watched over, and she absolutely adored spending time with her beloved granddaughter, Neva Rose, who brought endless joy to her heart.

A wonderful mother, friend, and confidant, Glenda had a rare gift for making people feel loved, seen, and at home. Anyone who knew her fell in love with her kindness, generosity, gentle spirit, and deep love for music. She truly made the world a better place, and all who knew her were better because of her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on May 28, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. until the time of her blessing service at 6:00 p.m.
