I have been meaning to call Gretel and then I saw her house was for sale. She was the final, of the original families who moved on to Macek Drive in the 1960's. She was very welcoming to all the families who followed. This closes the chapter on the Macek Drive families who lived there for 65 years, with Gretel passing. If was a wonderful place for our children to grow up and live together as a community. Gretel was an amazing woman who was a great friend and neighbor. Love to her family, Martha Burkholder

Gretel (or, Mrs. Pack, as I always addressed her) was a very nice lady with a very kind heart. My family & I lived right next door to her & her family when I was growing up. I remember a time when she somehow had gotten locked out of her house. I think she came over to our house, & my Dad & I went over to try to help her. Back then, I was still pretty small, so Dad lifted me up into her kitchen window & I was able to unlock her door for her. She was one of those people that you didn't think twice about going out of your way for. She will always be someone I think of fondly, from my earliest childhood & into my adult years. I hope she'll be reunited with Al now that she sadly is no longer with us.

My heartfelt sympathy & condolences to Lisa, Erik, Mark, Paul and all the family. Gretel, Al and "kids" were our 'neighbor-family' for many years. We shared so many fun times together, along with some sad ones. "Grekky" as we affectionately called her, shared lots of seasons with us & our mom, especially summers on mom's green glider, which Gretel deemed the 'official' start of summer when it appeared on our porch! Gretel was the rock of her family, strong, pragmatic, giving and kind and so amusing in many ways! I & my family loved her very much, as we still do her wonderful children who we grew up with. Gretel's love & light will continue shining through them and her memory will remain cherished in ours. With love & remembrance, Donna (Bidoli) Ayres

Gretel was one of the most kind and loving people I had the honor of ever meeting. She was a great friend of my late mother, every time she came in sunshine followed her. She will leave a giant void here on earth, but her wisdom and kindness will live on in all that knew her. Michael Runco Owner Nancy B's Bakery
