Obituary For Henry "Bob" Weiss

Of Whitehall, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at the age of 91. He was born in Bloomfield in 1929 and married the love of his life Margaret Bonura in 1950. They were devoted to their children, Daniel (Doreen) Weiss, Mary Rose (William) Rust and Robert (Sandra) Weiss. They were proud of their grandchildren Andrew (Stephanie) Weiss, Sarah (Joseph) Leuch, Kayleigh (Daniel) Lucas, Michael (Melissa), Robert (Corie), Rachel and Daniel Rectenwald, Audrey (Jason) Patterson, William Rust, Amanda (Sonny) Kupniewski, Emily (Benjamin) Immel and 17 great grandchildren. Henry was a lifelong, proud Marine who always teared up when he heard the National Anthem. He served his country well during the Korean War. He was a hard-working Teamster and drove a truck for West Penn Laco for more than 30 years. Henry was quite an athlete and loved to play softball. He even hit the ball over the Bloomfield Bridge a few times, and he continued to play well into his 50’s. He was also a true Pittsburgh sports fan. He even attended two Super Bowls! You could always find him watching a game or a cowboy movie. Even at 91, he loved to tend to his yard and garden. He loved cars and was a Ford man through and through. Most of all he loved his wife and family. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. We love you Papo! Visitation for family and close friends will be held at John F. Slater Funeral Home, 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Friday, September 11, 2020 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Saturday morning at 9:45. Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Trinity Parish, St. Sylvester Church at 10:30 a.m. Due to the current health crisis, masks and social distancing guidelines must be adhered to, both at the funeral home and church.
