On Sunday, February 7, 2021, of Asbury Villas, formerly of Pleasant Hills, Baldwin, and Mt. Oliver. Wife of Red Kessler; mother of Tim (Jeani) Kessler of Venice FL, Terri (David) Bourdon of Blacksburg, VA and Dianne (Patrick) Mosimann of London, England; grandmother of Kasey (Brynne), Devon (Tim), Alison (Will), Jamie, Dani and Gabriel. Renee will be remembered fondly by her many friends and large extended family. She was born in Pittsburgh and graduated from Carrick High School. Growing up in a musical family, she had a song for any occasion. She took pride in each of her jobs, always looking for a way to use her influence to make a difference in the lives of others. As a young mother, she was involved in every PTA program, both as organizer and participant. Later, in her career as gift shop manager at Western Psychiatric Hospital, she created a program where patients could gain interim business experience before returning to the workforce after treatment. But for all her accomplishments, her love of friends and family always came first. Each member of her loving family will remain forever grateful for everything she has done for them. To honor Renee’s never-ending love and concern for the well-being of family and friends, her family has chosen a virtual visitation. A memorial celebration of Renee’s life will be held at a future date when we can all share the huge warm hugs that were her trademark. Family and friends are welcome to join the virtual visitation through Zoom. The link will open at 10:30 am on Friday, February 12. Rev. Linda Ruby will offer a service at 11:00, followed by the opportunity for family and friends to share thoughts and memories in a written chat. The Zoom ID can be obtained by calling the John F. Slater Funeral Home at 412-881-4100. Arrangements by John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227. Donations may be made in memory of Irene Kessler to the Asbury Foundation, 700 Bower Hill Road, Pittsburgh PA 15243 or any local food bank or organization devoted to helping those in need.
