Obituary For Irene Marie Brown

Age 99, of Baldwin, sadly passed away at home on Sunday, March 9, 2025 with her family by her side.

She was a beautiful woman who was always there when needed and gave selflessly of her time, wisdom, support and love. Her deep love of family influenced her life as evidenced by her dedication to her husband, children and grandchildren. She was loved by all for her kindness, humor and compassion.

After raising three children, Irene returned to the workforce as an office administrator for Harry Dunn Company. After her retirement in 1985, Irene joined her two sons in 1988 to set up the office administration and accounting for MBM Contracting, Inc. and continued to work there until her second retirement in 2015 at the age of 90. Although she enjoyed her administrative role, her passion for work stemmed from her desire to help her family and spend time with them daily.

Irene was happily married to Darl Brown for 63 years before his passing in 2009. Irene was a wonderful mother to Danny (Debby), Harry (Christine) and the late Susan; grandmother to Matthew (Jessica), Missy (Zach), Bryan (Ashley), Nate (Paulina), Jake (Brianna) and Cassie; great-grandmother of ten. She is also survived by her sister, Theresa and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Friday, March 14, 2025 from 3-8 p.m. where a blessing service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday morning at 10:00. I am forever grateful to Mr and Mrs Brown for selflessly taking me in and treating me as one of their own I will never forget all the fun I had growing up and especially her scrumptious baking. I often wonder where I would be today if it weren't for the generosity of the Brown family. Nothing but fond memories and happy thoughts towards her. Linda and I will forever cherish our opportunity to have known her and her graciousness. Love you Mrs Brown and will miss you dearly. Terry and Linda
