Obituary For Irene R. Simko

April 28, 1942 - June 20, 2015

Simko, Irene R. (Gonchar) Age 73, quietly passed on to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, June 20, 2015, of Whitehall.

Beloved wife of 48 years to Stephen R.; loving mother of Stephen R. (Julie) and Christine M. Simko; daughter of the late John and Blanche Gonchar; cherished sister of Rosemary Gogolya; proud grandmother of Sarah, Nicholas and Jacob Simko. Along with her family, Irene was passionate about the care and well being of all animals. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Tuesday, 2-4 & 6-8 pm. A Panachida Memorial will be held at 7 pm. Funeral Prayer will be held on Wednesday morning at 9:00 am. Funeral Service will be held at St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church (Homestead) at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, Irene would want you to do a kind act for an animal today.

    VERY SORRY TO KNOW OF IRENE GONCHAR SIMKO PASSING. WE WERE GOOD FRIENDS IN 10/11 GRADE AT DHS.. 1960 GRAD CLASSMATES - IRENE WAS AN EXTREMELY NICE PERSON SHE WILL BE MISSED...

    Hi Steve, While I do not believe I ever met your wife, I am sorry to hear of her passing as such a young age or at least I still feel that 73 is still young. You have my deepest sympathies as well as my twin brother, Tom. A couple of old Ambridge buddies, Tim & Tom Weber, who went to school from kindergarten through graduation with your sister, Mary, who also passed way too young.
