Jim was a wonderful mentor and influence in the world of special education. His contributions to students were not just in the classroom, but were also felt in his advocacy through the PACEC. I still remember editing the newsletter with him. He will truly be missed. With deepest sympathies, Michelle Kirias, President of PACEC

Dear Sandy, You and Jim have had such a siege and have borne up bravely. I sent Jim a "thinking of you" email Monday, not knowing he was already beyond his earthly time. I will always cherish our Castle Shannon friendship--Jim's funny streak, his sharp mind, his loyalty. Having just learned today of Jim's death, I am sorry I cannot get to Pittsburgh for tomorrow's services. I will write soon.

Jim will be missed by those of us fraternity brothers who having been meeting at least annually for the last several years. Jim was able to fill in many gaps in my memory of our days at Slippery Rock State College.

A few memories about "Brother" Jim. I met Jim at Slippery Rock State College and along with 30 young men became a founding brother of Beta Upsilon Chapter of Theta Xi Fraternity in 1966 and which is one of two surviving fraternities there today. We reunited after a 45 year hiatus and have been meeting once a year ever since. Jim and Sandy have been regulars at these mini-reunions and since have shared many aspects of our lives and once again have come to be close friends. Jim will certainly be missed by all of us but will remain vivid in our memories as he exemplified the building blocks of the fraternity: Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Discipline. I have been blessed and enriched by his friendship! Until we meet again - Rick

Jim was a damn good teacher and Pioneer missed him when he retired! He really was a mentor for me. His family should take pride in the fact that he had a wonderful teaching career and much respect!
