Obituary For James F. "Jumbo" Kearns

Age 72, on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, of Baldwin Borough.Best friend and beloved husband of Mary Ann Mallon Kearns; loving father of John Mallon Kearns; brother of Robert F. (N. Jean) Kearns, Thomas H. (the late Bonnie) Kearns, Donald C. (Maureen) Kearns and the late Richard A. (survived by Judy Korff) and John W. (survived by Larry Parks) Kearns; son of the late Richard W. and Gertrude (Forney) Kearns; godfather of Debbie Kearns Morrow and Michelle Heckel; predeceased by nephews Robert J. Kearns and Jordan Clark. Also survived by generations of nieces, nephews and friends. James' family would like to thank AHN Jefferson Cancer Institute, especially doctors Jason Stepp, Gunj H. Patel and their teams for their care and professionalism. Thanks also to the Wednesday night crew for their love and support. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Friday, April 28, 2023 from 2-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday in Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin Church at 10:00 a.m. Everyone please meet at church. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to where Jim and Mary Ann volunteered after retirement, South Hills Interfaith Movement, SHIM, 5301 Park Avenue, Bethel Park, PA 15102.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Jim at Giant Eagle for years and he was always nice and pleasant. He was a big reader like me, too! Prayers for all
