James Francis Seemiller

Obituary For James Francis Seemiller

Age 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 28, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of hard work, devotion to family, and a life well-lived.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Marilyn (Brown) Seemiller. A proud veteran, Jim served his country for two years in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Germany. Upon returning home, he dedicated 39.5 years as a skilled millwright, working across J&L Steel, LTV Steel, and U.S. Steel.

An active member of the Dutch Club, Jim was known for his love of the simple pleasures in life. He was an avid antique car enthusiast, with a special passion for his Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu and his Chevrolet Impala Indianapolis Speedway Edition.

He also found great joy in tending to his garden and yard, and he never turned down the chance to enjoy a cold beer.

Above all, Jim was a deeply devoted father; he dedicated his life to caring for his adult special needs daughter, Shelley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Florenz "Buss" Seemiller and Catherine "Kay" (Bischof) Seemiller, as well as his brother-in-law, the late George Benz ( wife Joanne still alive)

Jim's legacy lives on through his loving children, Carrie (Mike) Wasylson, Shelley Seemiller and Amy (Alex) Ferguson. He was the proud grandfather of Maxwell Skalos, Spencer Skalos, Alexander Ferguson, and Lily Ferguson.

He is also survived by his siblings: Joanne (the late Dr. George) Benz, John "Jack" (Barbara) Seemiller and Patricia (Jim) Pack; brother-in-law of Charles "Chuck" (Elaine) Brown, Don Brown (Colleen McCauley), and Thomas (Laura) Brown, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Monday, July 6, 2026 from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. A blessing service will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at 2:00 p.m. with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association, 444 Liberty Ave #1300, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.

    Always looked forward to see the round table filled Friday nights with Jim and his crew. Lots of talks n laughs. Gonna miss him.
