Obituary For James H. "Jimmy" Hoey

James H. "Jimmy" Hoey
Age 67, unexpectedly on Saturday, July 25, 2026, of Jefferson Hills, formerly of Baldwin Township .

Beloved son of the late James N. and Rosemary L.(Weet) Hoey; cherished brother of Jeanine M. Hoey and Thomas P. (Lisa) Hoey ; uncle of Tuesday N. (Adam) Simok, Zachary T. (Drake Weigle) Hoey, Matthew P. (Allie) Hoey and Emily N. Hoey. Also survived and missed by many cousins.

Jimmy was a true Pittsburgh sports fan and loved cheering on his hometown teams through the good, the bad, and sometimes the ugly seasons. He also had a lifelong love of golf, bowling, and music. If you ever needed someone on your trivia team who knew the sports facts, Jimmy was your guy. Whether he was on the golf course, at the bowling alley, listening to his favorite music, or watching a Pittsburgh sports game, Jimmy found joy in the things he loved most. One of his proudest accomplishments on the golf course was achieving what every golfer hopes for — a hole-in-one.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for the many memories shared with family and friends and for the things that brought him happiness throughout his life.

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Wednesday, July 29, 2026 from 4-8p.m. Funeral Prayer on Thursday morning at 9:30. Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Trinity Parish, St. Sylvester Church at 10:30.

Condolences

I'm so very sad to hear of Jim's passing. Jimmy was one of my best friends in grade school. And though I moved away from the Pittsburgh area after college, we kept in touch and I enjoyed seeing his social media posts, especially his comments about Pittsburgh sports and news about Saint Winifred's school graduates. He made the world a better place for many of us and he will be dearly missed. My deepest condolences to his family.

I am sorry to hear about Jim's passing. He was friends with my brother, Fr. Malcolm McDonald, which is how I knew him. He was always so nice to me as Malcolm's little sister. Rest in peace.🙏🏻
