Obituary For James Philip Dean

James P. Dean, age 80, of Whitehall, passed surrounded by love on Monday, August 18, 2025.

Jim, or JD, as he was lovingly known by his wife, triumphed over illness for over 30 years before choosing a peaceful passing at home this month. Jim is survived by his wife Patricia of 43 years; children, James (Carrie), Brian (Jackie), Melissa (Eric), Jonathan (Kristin), and Jennifer (Josh); grandchildren, James (Alexis), Joseph (Gabby), Grayson, Gillian, Holden, Ella, and Gunner James; great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Stephen. Also survived his beloved and spoiled dachshund, Beau. Over the years he enjoyed horse racing, western movies, reading, board games with family, and collecting flashlights and binoculars. He will be remembered for his quick wit, full belly laugh, and love for his family. Arrangements were handled privately by the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227. In lieu of flowers, Jim requests donations in his memory to The American Heart Association, 444 Liberty Avenue, #1300, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.

Jim- people say life is like a train- people get on and get off leaving us with lessons and experiences. You taught me so much while we worked at 3M: have a calm demeanor. Ask kindly, praise liberally and expect that people will do their best. I've never forgotten - those lessons served me well. You've earned this rest. But you will be sorely missed. 💔
