Obituary For James R. Glenn

Age 81, passed peacefully on Sunday, July 20, 2025, of the North Side. Husband of the late Carol A. (Pifer) Glenn; loving father of Theresa (Scott) Stockhausen; grandfather of Scarlett and Alec Stockhausen; brother of Martin (Louann) Glenn and Mary (Daniel) Weis; fiance of Judith Schumacher; son of the late Thomas J. and Agnes (Martin) Glenn. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Jim was a North Catholic High School Hall of Famer and the first blind person to graduate from North Side Catholic. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. where a blessing service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.

    Bob Mill

    Jimmy and I knew each other for all my life. We were born in apartments in the same building on Kennedy Avenue. Him being blind never shielded him from best buds abuse. My Dad always teased by calling him FAKER. As we're aged I began calling him Faker, I would shout across a crowded room and he always responded...Get over her Bobby Mll. Sad he never saw a face but knew every voice. RIP MY OLDEST FRIEND.

    Warm heartfelt hugs 🤗, a smile that lit up the room, a belly laugh that got everyone else chuckling, a raspy voice who spoke "Nicky" with such tenderness, and a loving spirit that had a perfect view of God!     Tracy O'Connell

    I can picture Jimmy and his dad at Annunciation church every Sunday. He and I became good friends in high school. I'll always remember him stopping at the sporting good store on East Ohio Street buying hockey sticks and we would play in the alley behind Kennedy Ave. I can picture him now, swinging the hockey stick like a baseball bat. We would all yell, "Jimmy, you're gonna kill someone". I have a lot of good memories knowing Jimmy Glenn. -Jim OConnell

    I have fond memories of Jimmy playing his guitar and singing on our front porch steps on Kennedy Avenue. He was a positive person who never let an obstacle get in his way. RIP Jimmy. Peggy (Thack) Schmitt

    Tom Flaherty

    Jimmy was special. Having a beer one evening he said I wish I could drive a car one time. 3 of us got in the car with him and the owner gave him the basics of driving and within minutes we were driving Kennedy Ave., with Jimmy as our driver. Unfortunately he made a VERY wide turn onto Marshall just as a police car got behind us. The rest of the story was told over and over, I'm sure, at #9 police station that same evening.
