Obituary For James William Schiedenhelm

The loving family of James William Schiedenhelm ,“Schiedy”, age 81, of South Park, celebrates his eternal life. Passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 7, 2024 with family by his side.

Loving husband to Karen (Klick). Beloved father to Troy (Michele), Keith (Jennifer), and Jill (Ray) Ciferno; proud Pap-Pap to 8 grandchildren-AJ, Nicholas, Jeffrey, Jillian (Chandler, AZ), Isabel, Ian (Canonsburg, PA), and Mia, Dane (Summerville, SC). In addition to his parents, preceded in death by his siblings: Betty Marquis, John White, and Lucetta McAteer.

Born and raised in Baldwin Whitehall. Proud member of class of 1960 Baldwin Whitehall High School, alumni member of basketball and baseball teams. Lifelong career as owner of Pleasant Hills News with circulation of the Pittsburgh Press, Daily News, and Tribune newspapers. A long-time resident of South Park, he brought joy to South Hills communities for years with Jimbo’s Ice Cream trucks. His greatest joys include his grandchildren, baseball, and his times with friends at Eat-n-Park.

There will be no visitation. Arrangements handled by the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the American Heart Association, 4 Gateway Center, 444 Liberty Avenue ,Suite 1300, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.

    My sincerest and deepest sympathy to the Schiedenhelm family. As a neighbor, growing and becoming friends with Mr. Schiedenhelm's son Troy, I always thought of the similarities between him and my own father. Hard working, embraced strong family values, enjoyed spending time with his kids, teaching the the value of work. I am saddened to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with Troy, Jill, Keith and Mrs. Schiedenhelm during this difficult time. -Tony Mattucci
