Obituary For Jane (Friem) Longenecker

November 11, 1946 - January 31, 2019

Longenecker, Jane (Friem), age 72, peacefully on Thursday, January 31, 2019 of Pittsburgh.

Beloved wife of 51 years to the late Samuel T. Longenecker; loving mother of Sherri Kennedy, Thomas S.(Christina) Longenecker and the late Gregory Scott Longenecker; proud grandma of Haley Lynn and Scott Thomas; daughter of the late Raymond and Olive Friem; sister of Cathie Simoni and the late Raymond Friem. Also survived by nieces, nephews and in-laws. Longtime owner and operator of Longenecker's Little Store. Jane was an inspiration to many children, and had an open door to everyone. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Monday, February 4, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Tuesday morning at 9:45. Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Apostles Parish, St. Wendelin Church at 10:30 a.m.

    I know I've never met someone with a heart and hug the size of Aunt Jane. She took care of me when I broke my arm and my Mom was out of town and she was always there giving love to anyone that she knew!

    I didn't know your side of the family too well, but I know that your home was always welcoming. I never for a moment felt out of place or unwanted in your presence. It is terrible to see you go, but I home you find your place next to Sam. Your kind heart was something that I don't think could ever be copied.
