Obituary For Jean Ruth Matthews Troppman

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Jean Ruth Mathews Troppman, age 102, of Pensacola, Florida, was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Septemeber 29, 1922, and met her Heavenly Father face to face on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. What a sweet reunion she must have had meeting her Savoir and those loved ones who have passed on before. Jean is preceded in death by her parents Kyle and Alma Grace; her husband, George Louis, Jr.; and her sister, Lois. She leaves behind many who loved her including her daughter, Nancy Lee Troppman McLaughlin; her son, George Louis III (Cheryl) Troppman; 7 grandchildren: Kristine, David, Robert, Charlie, Nicole, Jessica, Chelsea; 21 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.

Jean grew up in Pittsburgh and graduated from South Hills High School and later attended college for two years. She met her husband at a "Welcome Home Soldiers" reception at church following World War II. They were married on September 26, 1947. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Hospitality was important to Jean. She welcomed others to her table often with her "tried and true recipe" for steak and mushrooms and apple pie. Her sacrificial love and joy made many feel loved and cared for.

Jean was deeply dedicated to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She spent much time in personal Bible study, prayer, and attending church functions. Her faithfulness in prayer and her walk with the Lord encouraged all those who knew her. In her later years, she played the piano for church services. She was a blessing to many as well as a genuine inspiration to her family and friends.

Having been blessed by her life, it is a joy to imagine her reunion with her loved ones in heaven. We look forward to the day when we will all be reunited with Jean and our Savior Jesus Christ.

Visitation will be held at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood, PA, 15227 on Friday, February 14, 2025 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m and Saturday from 10-11 a.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 15 at 11:00 a.m. in the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc. Chapel.

My condolences to my cousins Nancy and Lou, and to all who loved her. I have sweet memories as a little girl visiting your home on many Christmases. Aunt Jean was always very kind and gracious. She always had that sweet smile. "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." [II Corinthians 5:8] Margaret Troppman Collins
