Obituary For Joanne D. (Kozuch) Stanis

Age 86, of Whitehall, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2025, with her family at her side.
Joanne was the cherished daughter of the late Frances Klimaszewski and Albert J. Kozuch, Sr., and was preceded in death by her husband Samuel P. Stanis. She will always be loved and missed by her daughter, Kimberly (Patrick) Fuhrer, her son, Joseph (Beth) Stanis, her granddaughter, Samantha Stanis, and her great-grandson, Alexander. Joanne is the sister of the late Albert J. (Margaret) Kozuch, Jr., the late Eleanor (Kenneth) Duff, and the late Dolores (Edward) Pankowski. She leaves an aching void in the lives of numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many cousins and friends.
A former Brentwood Bank employee and retired tax collector at Berkheimer Associates, Joanne loved to crochet and was an avid master of crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She rarely missed an episode of “Jeopardy” or “The Price is Right”. Joanne kept her Polish heritage alive in her cooking and baking, such as her mother’s haluski and delicate crepes. Joanne’s secret recipe made her pumpkin rolls a prize to receive. In addition to treasuring time with her granddaughter and great-grandson, she thoroughly enjoyed spending summer days with family at the camp in Pymatuning or sipping a glass of wine with her “other family”, her close-knit neighbors and friends. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Tuesday, January 14, 2025 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. with a blessing service on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association, 444 Liberty Ave #1300, Pittsburgh, PA 15222 or Animal Friends, 562 Camp Horne Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.

Our deepest condolences from Dan and Edith Capozzolo. It was great growing up in the neighborhood with your mom. Great memories of her taking us to Whitehall pool and the roller skating rinks. It was always nice to stop by and see her when I was home on leave. She will truly be missed and both me and Edith with keep her in our prayers. May perpetual light shine on her and may she rest in peace.

Our deepest sympathy from Clare and Ray Binkowski from South Carolina. Her phone overtures and virtual "wine toasts" always were positive and cheery. She will be remembered with fondness. Our deepest sympathy to all her family at this sad time...
