Of Finleyville, formerly of Brentwood, passed away at the age of 73 surrounded by family at home on Friday, February 5, 2021, after a lengthy, courageous battle with complications from Agent Orange exposure. He served in the United States Air Force in Thailand during the Vietnam War. Jack was born in Pittsburgh, PA on February 24, 1947. He met Janet Eisel in Kindergarten and she was his beloved and devoted wife for 51 years. Jack was an avid, lifelong sports fan and a GPFOA football official. He worked in banking for 40 years, retiring from Northwest Bank as a Senior Vice President. Jack was predeceased in death by parents Joseph and Edith and is survived by his wife Janet and three sons, Scott, Jason (Kimberly), and Ryan (Shawna). He was the brother of Elaine Koch (George) and Margie Hager (Bruce), and brother-in-law to Barbara Stephan (Michael) and Cindy Valenta (Gary). Jack said his grandchildren Olivia, Giuliana, Charlotte, Jack, Max and Sydney “warmed his heart”. His strong spirit will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, close friends and coworkers. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 from 1-5 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Wednesday morning at 10:00. Mass of Christian Burial in St. John XXIII Parish, St. Francis of Assisi Church at 11:00 a.m. Due to Covid restrictions and limitations, interment will be held privately at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, One Oxford Centre, 301 Grant Street, Attn: Donor Services, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
