Obituary For John A. Vodzak

Vodzak, John A.-Age 82-of Baldwin passed peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, November 9th, 2023.
Cherished husband to Carol (Markovich) Vodzak for 59 years; A loving father to John Vodzak and Janice (Mike) Silianoff; An adoring grandfather to Michael John Silianoff.
Son of the late John “Kid” and Catherine (Booritch) Vodzak; Brother of Charlotte (the late Jess) Jesensky, and the late Jerry (survived by Gerry) Vodzak; Brother-in-law of Anothony (Carol) Markovich, David Markovich, and Kathy (Mike Cook) Markovich. Also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
While devoted to his Catholic faith, John sang in the church choir for many years. He worked for Duquesne Light Company for 40 years. He was a longtime member of the South Side’s Kollar Club and the Three Rivers Corvette Club. John was a car enthusiast, a lover of music, but above all enjoyed spending time with his wife and family.
Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Friday, November 17, 2023 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Saturday morning at 9:15. Mass of Christian Burial in Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Elizabeth Church at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to a charity of your choice.

    I had the pleasure of growing up next to John, Carol, John and Janice. They were far more than neighbors - they were an extension of my own family. My heart goes out to them and the rest of John's friends and family. Sending love and hugs from Germany. Dave, Sandra, Christopher and Sean
