Obituary For John Dale Geary III

February 6, 1949 - May 18, 2017 Geary, John D., III "KONKY" Age 68, of Baldwin Boro, passed away with his family at his side on Thursday, May 18, 2017.

Beloved husband of 47 years to Patricia A. (Gunning); cherished father of John P. (Sharon) Geary, James M. (Chanda) Geary and Maura E. (Derek) VanBerkom. John loved spending time with his eight grandchildren, Connor, Evan, Aidan, Ava and Chase Geary and Ethan, Nathan and Caleb VanBerkom; brother of Allen (Barb) Geary, Marlene (Ken) Zirkle and Tina (Russ) Brown; son of the late John and Alice Geary; also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. John was raised in the 10th Ward of McKeesport, moved to West Mifflin as a teenager, and graduated from West Mifflin South H.S. He was looking forward to his 50th reunion this summer. He worked at USX-Irvin Works for 32 years and retired as a bearing repairman specialist. He was a long time member of Elizabeth Township Sportsmen Association. John loved hunting and fishing, his time spent at Plantation Park in Mercer, his monthly Tuesday Breakfast Club meetings, monthly meetings with the Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees, and was a proud "pyrohy pincher" at St. Pius X. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Sunday, from 2-8 p.m. Parastas Requiem Service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Monday morning at 9:00. Funeral of Divine Liturgy in St. Pius X Byzantine Catholic Church at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to American Diabetes Association, 100 W. Station Square Drive, Ste. 1900, Pittsburgh, PA 15219 or Little Sisters of The Poor, 1028 Benton Avenue,Pittsburgh, PA 15212.
