Obituary For John F. "Jack" Yerman, Jr.

March 16, 1931 - June 10, 2019

Yerman, John F., Jr., "Jack", age 88, on Monday, June 10, 2019, of Whitehall.

Beloved husband of 64 years to Thresa M. (Garland) for 64 lovely years; loving father of John III (Rosanne), Kathryn (Ken) Finney and Joseph; son of the late John and Kathryn; proud grandfather of Trina and Alaina Finney and Jennica (Dave) Brodeur; great-grandfather of Callum and Latham Brodeur; brother of Alexander Yerman and Virginia (Howard) Mains. John was a 1953 graduate of Carnegie Tech. He was drafted in 1955 to serve in the Army and then worked as Mechanical Engineer at Bettis Atomic Power Lab for over forty years advancing commercial nuclear energy and nuclear powered Navy. Jack volunteered with Rails to Trails, PA-DEP Water Conservation & South Hills Watershed, Jefferson Hospital, SWPARN. He enjoyed sailing, cycling, tennis, skiing, skating and teaching his children and grandchildren about everything. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Rd., Brentwood 15227 on Thursday, June 13, 2019 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Friday morning at 9:15. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Gabriel of The Sorrowful Virgin at 10:00 a.m. Contributions can be made to a local Rails-to-Trails or Carnegie Library Development Office.
