July 14, 1927 - December 12, 2016

Ference, John III Age 89, on Monday, December 12, 2016, of Baldwin Borough.

Beloved husband of 62 years of Helen (Bosak); loving father of Andrea J. Ference, MD, Matthew J. Ference, Michael J. Ference, John J. (Lisa, MD) Ference, DMD, Elaine J. and Jennifer A. Ference; devoted grandfather of Stephen and Dylan Anderson, John N. and Christopher J. Ference. John was a cantor for 55 years at St. Pius X Church, a WWII Army Veteran, and a former member of Byzantine Catholic Serra Club and Archieparchial Choir. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Sunday from 2-8 p.m. Parastas Requiem Service at 4 p.m. Funeral Divine Liturgy in St. Pius X Byzantine Catholic Church on Monday at 10 AM. If desired, family suggests contributions to Byzantine Catholic Seminary of Saints Cyril and Methodius, 3605 Perrysville Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15214.

    Mrs. Ference and family, My condolences to you all. Your husband, father, grandfather was a man I admired very much. I have many fond memories growing up from him letting me flip the switch to ring the bells, him singing to bring Saint Nicholas with our toys, his voice at my wedding, to bringing me to tears that Father's Day in church right after I lost my dad. I am sure he and my dad are harmonizing already. Blessed be.
