Being an only child and attending family reunions, with the huge Barrett clan, was always a bit much for me. I can tell you I will always remember Jack and Marietta, as they were both so kind to me, each summer at this event, by offering me a kind smile and welcoming words. I remember watching Joe embrace his cousin, Jack, and then engage in talk of their business job worlds. But it is Jack's big smile and Marietta's generous welcomes that are what we will remember, though our time spent with them was way too brief. Blessings and hugs from your NJ Barrett cousins to all of you. And lots of love. - Elaine & Joe

my heartfelt sympathy goes out to Jack' s children and grandchildren and siblings! He will receive many accolades for the honorable way that he led his life! may all of you be comforted by such praise! As second cousins, we saw more of each other when we were young and my parents , Marg and Pat Duffy loved his parents, Edith and Bernard! Recently Jack and his sisters invited me to lunch ; that was an enjoyable experience and one that will now be a most treasured memory. It is sad that in this time of quarantine, we who loved him cannot join in visitation with his immediate family. We will remember him in private prayer and online masses! I will donate, as requested , to his parish in his name. Farewell, Jack, to this world's embrace. I am consoled that now I have another soul who may intercede for my own salvation to my Creator. Look back at those who miss your earthly presence and ask God to keep us in His care!

I met Jack at Federated when I started working there in 1981. Through the years, Jack and I worked on many projects and he was a perfectionist! He was very kind and he loved telling stories about his family. He was so proud of his four sons and all of their accomplishments. His wife made the best cookies and he would share them at work. Both Jack and Marietta did a wonderful job with their fund raising for colon cancer and they were very dedicated to helping with the fight against this disease and I commend them for their efforts. My condolences are being sent to his family.

My memory of Jack and his wife Marietta goes back to when they were a couple in high school. My mother, Mary, would have my dad drive my younger brother, David, and me from Leechburg "all the way" to visit everyone at her parents' place (Leon and Sophia Gasiorowski) on the Southside at 136 South 16th St from time to time. Jack fit right in with the family. Very good natured and easy-going. Decades have gone past since then. But working in downtown Pittsburgh off and on, I would still bump into Jack during lunchtime and he would bring me up to date on his family. Good man. We will miss him and hope we meet again when we pass on. Our condolences go out to his family.
