Obituary For Joseph S. Vucic

February 20, 1939 - February 24, 2016

Vucic, Joseph S. Age 77, on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, of Whitehall.

Beloved husband of 46 years to Mary (Devine); loving father of Beth (fiancé Nick Dolgos) Vucic and Kim (Tony) Ratkiewicz; proud Pap Pap of Anthony and Theresa Ratkiewicz; brother-in-law of Anne (Chuck) Giovannitti and the late James Devine and Eileen Nestler. Joe worked 30 years for U.S. Steel before retiring in 1999. He was a long time member of the St. Sylvester Choir, easily recognized by his resonant bass voice and was also a Eucharist Minister there for many years. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends, and especially his Se Jong Tae Kwon Do family, where he was a dedicated member. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, Thursday and Friday from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Saturday morning at 9:15, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Sylvester Church at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Sylvester Church, 3754 Brownsville Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15227 in memory of Joe.

    Mary, Beth, and family; So many of his friends, including me, and of course family, are heartbroken over your loss. Joe was someone that I always looked forward to spending a little time with. He brightened up everyone's day. I will miss him every day, and especially every Saturday at Mass.
