Obituary For Joyce Ann (Przywara) Bushmen

Age 79, on Saturday, March 8, 2025, of Overbrook, formerly of Southside.

Beloved wife of the late Richard E. Bushmen; loving mother of Bryant E. (Lisa) Bushmen and David A. (Sandy) Bushmen; proud gram of David (Nicole) Bushmen, Melina (Kahari Dates) Bushmen, Sara (Chris Swanson) Bushmen and Ashlyn Bushmen; great-grandmother of Brooks David Bushmen; daughter of the late Stanley and Katherine Przywara; sister of the late Carol (survived by Bernie) Komoroski, and the late Mary Ellen Przywara; sister-in-law of the late James (Gretchen) Bushmen. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her beloved dogs.

Born on the South Side of Pittsburgh, PA to second-generation Polish and Ukrainian Immigrants, she and Rich worked hard to build a great life for their children and future grandchildren. Life was not easy, but you would’ve never heard it from her. Despite her own battles in later years, she showed up for every dance recital, baseball game, and school event.

Some of her best years were spent traveling by bus, car, train, and plane. Often with her grandkids by her side, and hitting every curb, median, and casino along the way. An invitation was never turned away at her hands ever, be it a Sunday cookout or a stay in Luxenberg with cousins she hadn’t seen in 20 years, especially if it was free.

Much of her love will live on through the many pictures and memories which she shared. Her Chopped Suey was the best, every sentence ended with “N’at”, and did we mention she liked to gamble?

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Friday from 3-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Saturday morning at 9:30. Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Trinity Parish, St. Sylvester Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held privately.

To all the Bushman family our deepest sympathy. I met Joyce twice and knew her through the loving stories Melina shared with me. May she rest in eternal peace.

My condolences to Joyce's family. Please know she cherished all of you and spoke so highly of you. She was an awesome lady - we used to work together and would still go to lunch after she retired. She would regale me with her travel stories, and I asked her to adopt me as a grandchild after I heard every tale. I offer you all my sincerest condelences and also thank you for sharing your mother/grandmother with me! Rest in Peace Joycie xoxoxo
