Hi Keith, I was searching today and ran across this obiturary. Did Karen live in Laguna Nigel in the late 90s? Was she at one point married with the last name Bacik?

I send my deepest and heartfelt condolences to Karens' family and loved ones. I was truly blessed to have this beautiful, funny and loving friend be such an influence in my teenage years. I have no memories that don't include Karen, that is what a bright and shiny presence her lovely soul was. I know you are free Karen...free of all our Earthly worries and suffering. Continue to shine my beautiful friend, the world was a better place because of youâ?¡

I was fortunate to know Karen for 36 of her 50 years, which is unbelievable to think about. We met when we were 14, and she was a true friend from that moment on. I think now about our mischievous teenage years, trips to see one another in Phoenix and Southern California in our 20s and 30s, and then our latest visits in Portland and Pittsburgh, to which we brought age, relationship travails, hopefully some wisdom, and, in Karen's case, cancer. Even during the times over the years when our communication was sporadic and the geographic distances vast, we managed to pick right up as though we had seen or spoken to each other just yesterday. That, for me, was the hallmark of a true and cherished friendship. What a remarkable and rare gift to have known someone so long and so well; I am incredibly sad but will always feel lucky as well. Karen's gorgeous eyes and smile, and that laugh of hers - all things to never be forgotten. To all you wonderful Kyles out there and to Keith, I am so sorry. And I hope you are all taking good care of yourselves during this difficult, difficult time. I'm thinking of you. All my love, Antoinette
