Obituary For Kathleen M. Schmitt

Age 95, of Brentwood on Friday, February 12, 2021.

Kathleen "Kay" was born November 13, 1925. Daughter of the late Vincent and Agnes Winterhalter; beloved wife of the late Gilbert A. Schmitt "Gil" who passed on December 27, 2013; loving mother of four sons, Kenneth (Lora), Larry (Elena), Gary (Julie) and Thomas; aunt of Bruce (Dana) and Keith (Francine) Winterhalter, who Kay and Gil also raised and who called her mom; loved grandmother of Nicole (Todd) Schlater, Melinda (Neal) Clayton, David (Barb) Schmitt, Lauren (Derek) Sitosky, Daniel (Colleen) Schmitt, Kelly (Greg) Pax, Amy (Bryn Bell) Schmitt, and three grand-nephews, Matthew (Ariel) Winterhalter, Cameron Winterhalter and Addison Winterhalter, who called her grandma; great-grandmother of ten. Kathleen was preceded in death by all of her siblings, Vincent, Edward, Donald, Richard, and Grace Winterhalter. After Kay graduated from South Hills High School, she went to work for J&L Steel as a secretary until she married. She was a stay at home mother until her youngest children were in high school, then Kay went to work for Brentwood High School as assistant librarian and attendance secretary. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the burial was held privately at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. A celebration of her long and meaningful life is being planned once the pandemic subsides. Arrangements handled by the John F.
