Obituary For Kathleen M. (Shalley) Peterson

Age 75, peacefully surrounded by her family, on Sunday, March 29, 2026, of Pleasant Hills.

Beloved wife of 54 years to Dennis G. Peterson; loving mom of Kara Peterson (Dave Wisenauer) and Michael Peterson; proud grandmother of Jack and Emma; Mamo to Netta and Denny Wisenauer; cherished sister of Dr. Ann (Randall) Collins; sister-in-law of Delwyn (Charlotte) Peterson, Debra (David) Peace and David (Susan) Peterson. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Kathy graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. She went on to study Home Economics at Seton Hill College. She then got her Master’s Degree in Library Science at Duquesne University. She worked as an elementary school librarian at Jefferson Elementary in the West Jefferson Hills School District.

She loved her family and her friends, and lived life to its fullest. She will be deeply missed, but leaves behind all those who have been impacted by her appreciation for the beauty of nature (especially snow!) and her gentle loving kindness.

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Thursday, April 2, 2026 from 2-8 p.m. and Friday, April 3, 2026 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of her blessing service at 11:30 a.m. If desired, family suggests contributions in Kathleen's memory to Pleasant Hills Library, 302 Old Clairton Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236 or Pittsburgh Mercy's Food Pantry c/o Pittsburgh Mercy's Development Office (in memory of Kathleen Peterson), 1200 Reedsdale Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15233.
