Obituary For Laura (Mutschler) Cox

Formerly of Brentwood, Springfield, MA and currently of New Castle, PA, passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loving husband, children and grandchildren. Daughter of Lorraine Mutschler Keppel and the late Ralph Mutschler, of Brentwood and sister of David, Paul, Larry, Diane, Kathy, Dan, Mike, Marilyn, Matt, Ralph and Lorraine. She graduated from Brentwood High School in 1978 and attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She married the love of her life in 1981, and gave birth to six wonderful children. This in particular was her dream. She always said, "Most of all, I want to be a Mom". After raising her family, she graduated from Elms College in 2007 with her degree in Advanced Paralegal Studies, Magna Cum Laude. She was a math teacher for St. Patrick's School in Chicopee, MA and at Van Sickle Middle School in Springfield, MA. She worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company for 10 years as a Senior Customer Retention Specialist. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Stephen, and her six children and five grandchildren; Sean (Lindsay) Cox and their children Mauralee and Gwen, Erin and her children Mikaela and Donovan, Sarah (Rob) Newling and their daughter Evie, Siobhan, Mary and Liam Cox. Laura is also survived by over 73 nieces and nephews. She was one tough old bird with the Spartan fight in her. Family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society in Laura's memory. Funeral arrangements handled by the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Rd., Brentwood 15227. A Requiem Mass will be held Friday, August 26, 2022 in the Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m.
