Obituary For LaVerne H. Bouvy

July 2, 1924 - November 16, 2015

Bouvy, LaVerne H. (Miller), age 91, passed peacefully on Monday, November 16, 2015. LaVerne was the beloved wife of the late Harry J. Bouvy; cherished mother of Harry E. (Patricia) Bouvy, Sandra (the late Robert) Opferman, Elaine (Timothy) O'Brien, Barbara (William) Pavlick, and Edward (Janet) Bouvy; daughter of the late Edward C. and Clara Miller; sister of the late Edward, Raymond, and George Miller, Vera Hawrylak and Mary Manko. LaVerne was very proud of and adored her 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and the one on the way, and her one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by loving sisters-in-law Dorothy Schuchert and Jean Urbaniak, devoted nephew Eddie Manko, and many more caring nieces and nephews. LaVerne was a shy, kindhearted, spunky lady who enjoyed a good cup of black coffee, listening to Elvis and George Jones on her radio, watching the Pittsburgh Penguins, keeping an immaculate home, and shopping at Target. Her greatest joys in life were her family and faith. LaVerne's family wishes to extend its deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff members of Marian Manor who provided her with exceptional care and compassion, listened with genuine interest to her many family stories, and loved her as an extended family member of their own. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Friday from 1-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Saturday morning at 9:15. Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Vianney Church at 10:00 a.m.
