Obituary For LaVonne M. (Knechtel) Bench

Age 83, on Sunday, August 28, 2022, of Baldwin .

Beloved wife of 65 years to Thaddeus "Lats" Bench; mother of Judith (Tim Pechatsko and the late James) Sopko, Raymond (Charmaine) Bench and Matthew (Jennifer) Bench; grandmother of Christine Collier, Andrew Sopko, Luke (Megan) Bench and Benjamin (Angie) Bench; great-grandmother of Lily and Garrett Collier; daughter of the late David and Margaret Knechtel; sister of Judith Reinhardt. LaVonne was a loving wife, mother and friend. Her many talents included being a beautiful seamstress, having a green thumb with plants and loving to entertain. She enjoyed a long career at the Allegheny Club at Three Rivers Stadium. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Thursday morning at 9:45. Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Trinity Parish, St. Albert the Great Church at 10:30 a.m.

    Lats and Family, I am so sorry for your loss of Lavonne. I have many happy memories of Lavonne over the years. She always had a big smile for all. Lavonne and my husband went to school together and he always said Lavonne was the smartest girl in St. Wendelins School. Lenny and I just talked about her on Saturday. I always asked about Lavonne, I have prayed for her daily. May God give you the strength you will need to get through this difficult time. God Bless the Bench Family.
