May 30, 1936 - August 12, 2017 Zurawsky, Lawrence G. Esq. Age 81, of Whitehall, passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side on August 12, 2017. Lawrence practiced law for 50 years in Pittsburgh. He earned a petroleum engineering degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a law degree from Duquesne University. He worked for Gulf Research & Development in Harmarville before serving as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Western District of Pennsylvania and later as legal counsel for the Allegheny Regional Narcotics Task Force. A long career in private practice included patent law and work as solicitor for Brentwood Borough and the Medical Rescue Team South Authority. Lawrence was also a member of the Allegheny County Bar Assoc., a 32nd degree Mason and a member of St. Thomas More Parish in Bethel Park. Surviving him is his loving wife of 56 years, Susan Stanish Zurawsky, whose hard work and dedication at his side in the office was integral to his private practice success. Also surviving are son, Christopher (Sarah Flanders) Zurawsky, of Squirrel Hill; daughter Jennifer (John) Zito, of Hudson, Ohio; grandchildren Nicholas and Peter Zurawsky and Juliet and Alexander Zito; brother Eugene (Adeline) Zurawsky, of Whitehall. Also survived by in-laws, nieces and nephews. Lawrence was know for his quick wit and storytelling. Lawrence loved being surrounded by his books and had a life-long passion for learning. He and Susan enjoyed travel, the theater and spending time with family. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Helen Zurawsky, and an infant brother, Francis. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, on Tuesday from 3-8 p.m. Funeral Prayer on Wednesday morning at 8:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas More church at 10.
