Obituary For Lawrence J. Shanahan

Age 50, unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, of Baldwin, formerly of Brentwood.

Beloved son of Lawrence and the late Joyce (Waters) Shanahan; cherished brother of Colleen (Bob) Benton; proud and loving uncle of Nathan (Mikaela Dragt) Benton, Bobby Benton and Jacob Benton; great-uncle of Emery Joy Benton; beloved nephew of Joan Marizzaldi, Paul (Eva) Waters and Patrick Waters. He will be missed by many cousins and dear friends. Larry was a longtime employee of Med-Express Urgent Care in the Patient Advocacy Department. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Friday, July 26, 2024 from 3-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. in Blessed Trinity Parish, St. Sylvester Church. Everyone please meet at church.

    Melany and I would visit Larry and Shan at their home over the years. We always looked forward to those visits and getting caught up on family. My dad was a much loved figure in the family and Larry and Shan were every bit as highly thought of. Gracious and caring, they always made others feel welcome and important. Larry's death is a tragic loss for everyone that knew him. Everyone he touched was better for it. Hang on to the good memories. God Bless.
