Obituary For Leslie Golen-Bronder

Age 67, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer, on Thursday, September 22, 2022, of Canonsburg, formerly of Pleasant Hills.

Beloved wife of Mark Bronder; mother of Kristen (Nick) Cherish and Nicole Bronder; stepmother of Brian (Kate) Bronder; grandmother of Sloane, Harper and Jackson Cherish; daughter of the late Leonard (survived by Dorothy) DeStout and Nancy DeStout; sister of Judi (Bill) Clark, Joyce (Brian) George and Jay (Kristen) DeStout; proud cat mom of Simba. Leslie lived life for family. She was a stay at home mom and her strongest desire was to be at home and take care of her family. She was an incredible wife, mom and grandmother. Through all her difficult days, she always found the strength to help with the kids or grandkids in any way possible. “No” wasn’t in her vocabulary. She always put herself last and never once complained about her battle. She fought through tough days hoping for more time with the kids and grandkids. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Monday, September 26, 2022 from 5-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 1-3 and 5-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Wednesday morning at 9:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church at 10:00 a.m. If desired, family suggests contributions to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition at www.ovarian.org.

Oh I am heartbroken to just learn of Leslie's passing today. I did not know she was sick. We worked together for 5 fun filled years in the city during the 80's at John Brady's. We were great companions enjoying volunteering at Animal Friends, long lunches, shopping at Horne's, exploring the city and happy hours after work. We giggled over everything and she was a beautiful soul inside and out. I was surprised when I didn't get a Christmas card this year but our lives had gone in different direction years ago and I knew how busy she was with her family. My deepest sympathy to all of her family, I know what an incredible loss this is, God needed another angel and he chose one from here on earth. Rest in peace my old friend.
