Lois Ann Jozwiak Ruffing passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023 at Inspira Hospital of Mullica Hill, New Jersey at the age of 90. She was born and raised in the South Side of Pittsburgh, moving to Arlington and the South Hills before moving to Oviedo Florida and Rincon, Georgia. She spent the last ten years living with her daughter Deborah and her son-in-law Raymond in Mullica Hill, NJ. Wife of the late Carl Robert Ruffing, Mother of Carol Ann Ruffing-Sedlock-Sommers-Schulman, Linda Ann Ruffing Rozinak, Deborah Ann Ruffing Lorson (Raymond), and Pamela Ann Ruffing Zuberi, Grandmother to David Schimborski (Jessica), Bethany Schimborski, Austin Williams, Aleah Zuberi, Jessica Rozinak Klug (Raymond) and Justin Rozinak. Daughter of the late William and Laura Kszeneski Jozwiak. Sister to the late Irene Kocinski (Joseph), Leonard Jozwiak (Noela), and Bernard Jozwiak (Evelyn). Aunt to Janet Kocinski-Smarsh-Bruce (David), Kenneth Kocinski, Leonard Jozwiak, Jr., (Pamela), Julie Jozwiak Murphy (David), Michelle Jozwiak, Kristy Jozwiak-Janes (Philip), Carmen Jozwiak-Oppenheimer-Lachapelle, Mark Jozwiak and Michael Jozwiak. Great and Great-Great Aunt to many. Lois was an Operating Room Nurse in her early years and worked at both South Side Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital. She also worked at Nabisco Cracker Factory in her teens, as well as a Tray-Girl at South Side Hospital and she did odd jobs in a beauty shop. She was a Girl Scout and Brownie Leader when her children were young. She raised 4 daughters and was an outstanding and dearly Loved wife and Mother. Lois will be remembered for her infectious laughter, a wicked sense of humor and she loves jokes. Her kind heart and generosity were exceptional. She gave away more than she ever had. Lois was a faithful daughter to God. She Prayed religiously, and always said a Blessing before her meals. She watched the Services on TV, and enjoyed the Sermons. She slept with her Jesus blanket every night, and filled her room with the Holy Mother statues and pictures. Always a mentor and second Mother to all of her Children’s friends. She was unbelievably talented at decorating, cooking, sewing and crocheting. She loved to do needle work of all kinds. She taught herself how to knit, and she was a good teacher of her crafts. She made clothes for her children and Halloween costumes. She made quilts, pillows, toys, and embroidered blankets for her grandchildren. She made all kinds of things with her hands and gave them to her family and friends. She loved playing card games, especially with her sister Irene, brother-in law Joe, niece Janet, and Janet’s husband Dave. They also traveled together on mini trips and excursions. An avid reader, she read thousands of books, and she loved listening to a variety of music. She was a self taught piano, organ and accordion player. She really loved her Polkas and sing-alongs. While living with her daughter Deborah and son-in-law Raymond, Lois’s favorite activity was visiting different Diners and Restaurants in New Jersey. They tried new ones every week, and they never ran out of options. She loved good food. She loved to shop, loved bargain and second-hand stores. Finding record albums sung by the old crooners made her so happy. She put them on her turntable, and while her toe tapped, she sung along. Lois was one of a kind. She loved living. She fought long and hard to live as long as she did. She has gone through unbelievable health challenges and never wanted to give up. Her courage and bravery were beyond words. She will be sorely missed, always Loved and remembered by all who knew her. Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Monday, October 23, 2023 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral prayer on Tuesday morning at 9:45.
