Obituary For Lois M. (Vates) Planitzer

Age 87, on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, of Baldwin, formerly of Knoxville.

Beloved wife of Robert H.; loving mother of Robert E. (Michelle), Kenneth W., Debra L. Smith, William M., John S. (Carol) and Laura M. (John) Zipfel; grandmother of 11; great-grandmother of 11. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Kathryn (Brisack) Vates and her siblings Raymond (Lois) Vates, Dolly (Charles) Edinger and Jean (Donald) Meyer. Funeral services will be held privately. Arrangements entrusted to the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227.     John. Our deepest condolences to you and your family on the passing of your Mom. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting either of your parents, Vinnie frequently tells me about the ways you have taken care of them over the years, including remodeling their bathroom when they were away from home and re-doing their walkway and driveway.
