DJ's family, Shocked and saddened to hear this news. I knew DJ from MIT where we were in the same program and also worked together in the same group for a course. It was a pleasure to work with him. He was calm, low-key, smart, and funny, and collaborating was a joyful exercise. I hope you find the strength to bear this huge loss. God bless you all.

Dear Joo Family, I send you my deepest condolences. Delbert and I met as young soccer players and stayed friends through middle school and high school. I was always impressed by his unassuming intelligence and enjoyed his calm and gentle spirit, while also sharing a good laugh. He was a joy to be around and I'm so glad to have known him. My heart breaks for you all and I wish you peace in the most tragic of times.

DJ, as some of us knew Delbert, will be dearly missed. One of the times he was deployed, he was with us in the Middle East. The mission was not easy, the hours long, and the conditions austere. DJ made a difference to our team. His knack for crafting assessments reflected the investment he made in his studies at MIT and his natural intelligence. The way he spoke with the Andrews, Oscar and Sam about home, or with our Canadian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, French, Italian, Turkish, and Kiwi colleagues about their homes - how made time for others - stood out. The Christmas he was away from family he was with us, amongst friends, and we are grateful to have share time with him and to celebrate his life.

We are devastated and heartbroken by another loss to the Joo family, who know nothing but giving and loving others. SeongRyong (Delbert) was the favorite child of the late Mrs. Joo, and we loved him dearly for his courage and integrity. May he join his loving mother and sister in heaven, and may God give Dr. Joo, Sharlene, and Brandi grace and courage to overcome this tragedy. The Kang Family
