Obituary For Marcella Marie Janoski Sheldon

Sunrise: December 28, 1931
Sunset: June 9, 2023

Marcella Marie Janoski Sheldon, 91, of Baldwin Borough, was surrounded by her beloved family. A loving wife for 70 years to Patrick H. Sheldon, and a dedicated mother to her five children: Patrick K. Sheldon (late Jack), Lynn Sheldon Krupa (Gregg), Mark D. Sheldon, Noel P. Sheldon (Laura), and Lorin Sheldon Zurku. She was a cherished grandmother to her seven grandchildren: Jay Bockstoce (Julia), Nicholas Zurku, Ryan Sheldon (Hannah), Benjamin Sheldon, Sarah Fisher (Joe), MacKenzie Sheldon, and Sidney Sheldon. Great Grandmother to Jack and Josie Bockstoce.

Marcy met the Irishman Pat when they were both 15 years old while she was working at the soda fountain in Beechview. A tall blonde Polish-American beauty born in Pittsburgh, Marcy was offered modeling jobs in New York when she was a young business secretary. Even when she left the workforce to marry on May 23, 1953, she received offers to model wedding dresses.

She put that all behind her to start a family. This year, they celebrated their 70th anniversary.

Marcy was a woman of creative spirit. She enjoyed art, including painting, decorating, and photography-especially capturing travel memories and her favorite subjects: orchids and roses.

With a beautiful soprano voice, Marcy often sang for her children.

She will be remembered for her sweet, caring demeanor. Marcy lived a life dedicated to putting her family and others first. She loved flowers, nature, wildlife, and was a compassionate adoptive mother to many family pets and stray animals over the years.

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, Inc., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood, PA 15227, on Tuesday, June 13 from 3:00pm - 7:00pm, where a blessing service will be held at 6:30pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Humane Animal Rescue, 1101 Western Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15233 or any wildlife conservatory in her name.
